How did Nourishing by Sally come about?
Nourishing started from the idea of creating healthy baking mixes. While working in a health food store I was constantly asked the baking questions, I then saw a need in the market for convenient healthy baking mixes, which where quick, easy and needed minimal extra ingredients or equipment.
What is your inspiration behind Nourishing by Sally?
I always wanted to have my own business and create my own products, so I guess this is it, this is something I can do!
Tell us about your products?
My product is a health food, energy mix, which is designed for people to take straight from the bag and roll into energy balls, chop into chunks or slices or eat as they like. I have further developed my products for convenience and now offer them already rolled into balls, or in 100g snack packs where the mix is chopped into chunks.
What is the best part about working on Nourishing by Sally?
It is mine, I love to see it grow, gain interest and the satisfaction that this is something I've created. It makes me proud and shows me and others than you really can do anything you want.
…..and the hardest?
One of the hardest things initially was having massive bursts of interest one week and then not alot the next week... I quickly learnt that business has its ups and downs and its not good all the time! And.... having minimal spare time.
Where do you make your products? Tell us about your space?
I was having it made from a large company initially, however I am now making it myself, I rent a kitchen while my very own kitchen is being built, it is a very exciting time.
What is your work/life background?
I trained as a chef straight out of school, but wanted to learn all sides of hospitality, so I have worked as a waitress, in the bar, making coffees, creating cakes and then decided to get out of hospitality and worked in a health food store to gain as much knowledge as possible. I then moved in the same company back into the kitchen, when the health food store opened up a cafe.
Where would you like to see Nourishing by Sally in 12 months/ 5 years?
Worldwide, producing many more health food products and teaching people how to cook and create healthy meals and treats.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A fashion designer, haha I used to love designing and sewing, watching things go from the paper designs to a real product.
Who do you look up to? Who inspires you?
I am lucky enough to have quite a few people who surround me that inspire me. I learn as much as possible from them all, ask many questions, and share my ideas to hear their thoughts and how they think. They are people who are positive and believe in chasing your dreams, so I have had alot of support and been told many times, dont let anything stop you.
A typical day for you involves?
Coffee! When I am working for myself it is mainly alot of running around delivering, answering emails and making products.

Nourishing by Sally
Meet Sally Robbie, the name and woman behind the wholesome and healthy brand 'Nourishing By Sally'. After working at Mrs Flannery's and noticing a gap in the market, the formally trained chef combined her love of healthy, natural ingredients and her cooking experience to create a ready to use energy mix.
Her energy mix and raw cake creations are now being stocked across the Gold Coast and have already made it across the ditch to New Zealand.

What advice do you have for others who are dreaming about starting their own handmade business?
Do it! Dont think to much about down the track... start by writing down ideas, and take one step at a time, it is so easy to think too far ahead get overwhelmed and then think nah, I cant do it because of so and so. Take the first step, like mine was creating recipes, and then when that's done think ok whats next, where will I get it made, and then where will I sell, the ball will keep rolling and then when you hit a hurdle you will always find a way to get over it!
How can people get their hands on your products?
