Tell us a little bit about yourself. Who is the team behind Wood & Beau?

The brand was created by me and my husband Joey

How did Wood & Beau come about? Why a wooden bow tie?

I like to be innovative, Joey loves wearing bow ties, he is a barber and that’s

how I came up with the idea of the wooden bow tie, putting a twist on it

Your bow ties are like pieces of art, what does the creative process involve?

(from concept to finished product)

W&B has lots of process from the designing of the product, to the cutting of the

wood, sanding, oiiling or staining, making the straps, cutting the leather or

fabrics, Joey is the man behind the making of the product I am more thecreative mind behind it. Perfect match!

Tell us about your creative space?

We work from home, we have a little office-workshop for W&B

If you could have any celebrity wear your bow tie, who would it be?

I would love guy Sebastian to wear it as he has a cool style

You are a husband and wife team, how do you you find working

together? And are you both romantics at heart?

It’s pretty cool working with Joey as we love seeing our creations

finished and worn by people that appreciate our product. It’s our baby!

A typical day for you involves?

Getting new ideas, talking to customers, pack and send the orders out,

doing a little bit of social media, being a mum…the day has finished before it started.

What is the best part about working on Wood & Beau?

Working for myself and challeging myself with new goals and ideas every day and receiving emails from happy customers to thank us for our service and product. That’s very rewarding.

…..and the hardest?

Trying to find the time as Joey is very busy with his barbershop and sometimes we struggle to find the time to make more bowties and being parents. Baby No 2 arriving in a month!

What are your dreams for Wood & Beau? Where would you like to see Wood & Beau in 12 months/ 5 years?

My dream has already become true, we created a product that is not for everyone so at the beginning we were scared people would not get it, but the response has been amazing! We started as a hobby and to sell it in Joey’s barbershop, now we have sales online everyday and we’ve already supplied wooden bow ties for 10 weddings on our first year, and we’ve been contacted by shops that want to sell our product. Not too bad for the first year.

What advice do you have for others who are dreaming about starting their own small business?

Just do it, don’t be scared but you need to love what you are doing. Don’t be money driven, just do it as a passion, the rest will come along
